Want to change it up for your and the family this Thanksgiving? Instead of the typical Thanksgiving turkey, try straying a bit from tradition and try some roast beef for dinner! With that, here is a simple recipe that will help you switch your Thanksgiving turkey into an excellent roast beef dinner!
Ingredients
- 1 round roast of roast beef, preferably around 3-4 pounds.
- 4 cloves of garlic with the cloves cut into 3 slivers
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of chopped rosemary
- ½ tablespoon of thyme leaves
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cracked pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit
- Prepare your roasting pan with a rack set over it and set the two aside.
- Gather your roast out of the fridge and let it sit for at least one hour before cooking it.
- Pat your roast dry with some paper towels
- Using a sharp knife, cut slits into the roast and insert the slivers of garlic evenly around the roast.
- In a bowl, combine the olive oil, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper and mix everything together well.
- Rub the mixture well and evenly across the roast, including inside the slits.
- Place the roast on the top of the rack that is set over the roasting pan.
- Use an ovenproof thermometer into the center of the roast.
- Put the roast into the oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and continue the roast until the internal temperature reaches;
- 130 degrees for rare
- 140 degrees for medium-rare
- 150 degrees for medium to well done.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 20 minutes to half an hour before cutting and enjoying.
